Government agencies and municipalities are lining up to buy Beam Global’s EV ARC solar-powered off-grid EV charging systems, which not only come in handy in a disaster-recovery scenario, but also offer a quick and simple way to deploy EV charging.
The latest customer is the US Department of Homeland Security, which has ordered 47 Beam EV ARC systems and 16 ARC Mobility trailers to enable efficient transportation of the products.
The EV ARC systems will be delivered to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Customs and Border Protection, Coast Guard, Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers and Secret Service. They’ll be deployed in Alabama, Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Missouri, New Mexico, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.
The purchase was made through the General Services Administration Multiple Award Schedule, which simplifies the federal procurement process and ensures best pricing.
Executive Order 14057 calls for the 657,500-strong federal vehicle fleet to be electrified by 2035. It prioritizes federal investment in resilient EV charging infrastructure powered by locally produced renewable energy.
“Disaster preparedness and energy resiliency are imperative for national security. Rapidly deployed, off-grid EV ARC systems provide sustainable charging for federal fleet EVs and vital electricity for DHS personnel and first responders, which is always important but especially so during emergencies or power outages,” said Desmond Wheatley, Beam Global CEO. “Beam Global’s sustainable EV charging solutions create American manufacturing jobs to produce products that serve zero-emission transportation and emergency power with 100% locally generated renewable and resilient energy.”
