Danlaw’s new CleverCharge Level 2 home charger creates personalized profiles for multiple EVs

Danlaw, a specialist in connected car technology and automotive electronics, presented its new CleverCharge Level 2 home EV charging system at CES 2025.

CleverCharge features an EV charge-management platform optimized for households with multiple EVs. It’s designed to provide personalized experiences for EV owners.

CleverCharge learns each user’s daily driving routines and provides proactive reminders to ensure that there’s enough range for the day. Mobile notifications advise drivers of the best times to charge, when energy rates are lowest. The mobile app dashboard displays vehicle battery range in both miles and kilowatt-hours, as well as remaining charging time and battery health.

“CleverCharge eliminates range anxiety and ensures your EV is ready for the next day’s routine,” said Scott Bolt, Chief Strategy Officer at Danlaw. “We designed it to not only be the easiest home EV charger to install and use, but also the most powerful in terms of its capabilities.”

The heart of the CleverCharge system is the CleverKey, a patent-pending device that accesses vehicle data via the OBD-II port. CleverCharge uses this vehicle data to generate plug-in reminders, scheduled charging, battery health, estimated charge time, and cost per charge for each EV in the home.

Once CleverKey is plugged in, CleverCharge automatically recognizes the make and model of the EV and creates an individual profile for every vehicle. An EV owner can install multiple CleverCharge units at different locations, and the app will automatically organize each charger and EV based on its location.

CleverCharge is available in both hard-wired and NEMA 14-50 versions, and with either NACS (SAE J3400) or SAE J1772 connectors. It’s compatible with all EVs, including Tesla models with an OBDII connector. Maximum charging power is 48 A for the hard-wired version, and 40 A for the NEMA version. Dimensions are 12 x 8 x 3.1875 inches (305 x 203 x 81 mm).

CleverCharge will be available in the spring of 2025.
