Davis, California installs a second Paired Power solar EV charging station at a city park

Paired Power makes a microgrid-based EV charging solution that includes solar electricity generation and battery storage. The company recently installed one of its PairTree charging stations at Playfields Park in Davis, California—the second charging station that Paired Power has sold to the city.

The PairTree system’s solar integration saves energy and enables off-grid operation, providing EV charging even during power outages. The system is designed to be installed in one day, with minimal site preparation.

The Playfields Park PairTree features two Level 2 EV charging ports, which can deliver up to 7.7 kW of power to one vehicle or 4 kW per vehicle for two vehicles charging simultaneously.

The PairTree chargers at Playfields Park are offered for public use free of charge. Users simply plug in their vehicles to begin charging—no apps, cards or accounts required. (Parking at the EV spaces is subject to a two-hour parking limit.)

“The goal of making electric vehicles accessible to everyone requires scalable solutions that can be deployed quickly in locations where there is little to no grid power,” said Tom McCalmont, CEO of Paired Power. “Paired Power is proud to work with the city of Davis to expand access to solar-powered EV charging.”

“This park is a central recreational hub for families and athletes, and we’re happy to partner with Paired Power to offer free, renewable electric car charging as part of the City’s clean energy initiatives,” said Davis Mayor Bapu Vaitla.
