TOSS Machine Components, a manufacturer of impulse heat-sealing components and supplies, has introduced a line of seal-and-cut heat-seal bands designed to address the specific needs of sealing battery cells and packs.
The company’s Beaded Bands, T-Profile Bands and Custom Seal-Cut (CSC) Bands deliver consistent, reliable seals while cutting polymeric films in a single process, the company explains.
The Beaded Band design includes tapered edges, eliminating sharp and high-temperature outer edges for safer handling and consistent performance. The bead itself retains more heat than adjacent edges, enabling precise cutting without overheating the sealed areas. This band is suitable for high-cycle processes in which reducing material waste is paramount.
The T-Profile Band provides a greater mass per unit length and is therefore able to retain more heat, making it effective for cutting through thicker film stacks or multi-layered films. This product’s ability to cut and seal simultaneously makes it particularly suited for packaging applications in the battery and EV industries, in which durable seals and high cycle rates are essential.
The Custom Seal-Cut (CSC) Band offers customization. It combines a tapered band with a cutting wire, allowing manufacturers to tailor the width and cutting wire thickness to their specific needs. Cutting wires can be positioned along the centerline or at the edge of the band, enabling precise cutting action at multiple locations.
All TOSS seal-and-cut bands are designed to create consistent, repeatable seals every time, making them compatible with a variety of automated and customized impulse heat sealing systems.
