Staad introduces its 17W 16-ton electric excavator

Earth-moving equipment importer and dealer The Staad Group has announced the Staad 17W electric mobile excavator, saying it is “making a go” at producing zero-emission large equipment.

The self-designed and -built “unique scoop” is a 16-ton excavator. Staad worked with the ELM Group to convert the machine from diesel to electric power and integrate an electric drivetrain.

Staad termed it “the machine for the future, with all high-end features as standard.”

Those features include selectable power modes, fine swing function and an optional intelligent floating boom, as well as a deluxe adjustable seat, full-color LCD monitor and optional heated/cooled seat.

The company worked in partnership with a Develon importer in the Netherlands, Anema Arum VOF, as well as Nijland Service, Handelsonderneming Snippe Erica and R&L Machinery to bring the 17W to fruition.
