Würth Elektronik ICS has introduced a new power distribution controller for vehicle electrical systems. The ePDM 70-150 is an intelligent solution that combines logic processing, communication, advanced diagnostics and high-current outputs in a compact device.
The ePDM 70-150 is designed for demanding control and power distribution tasks. It’s equipped with 9 analog and 13 digital inputs, as well as a variety of outputs with current capacities up to 35 A. It operates efficiently over a temperature range of -30° to +85° C, and has a current carrying capacity of 150 A at 70° C. IP67/IP69K protection ensures reliable operation even in harsh environments.
The ePDM 70-150 enables various wake-up scenarios, such as activating the in-cab HMI when the door opens. It also features “always on” outputs that remain active even in sleep mode, ensuring a protected power supply to critical components such as telematics modules.
The new controller supports software updates for continuous function development and optimization without hardware changes. The use of identical hardware for different vehicle models can reduce overall system costs—minor behavioral adjustments can be made by programming.
The ePDM 70-150 is designed to be easily integrated into existing vehicle designs without the need for direct access, which simplifies both installation and cabin design. Extensive diagnostic functions, such as the recording of switching frequency or operating time per output, facilitate service and support preventive maintenance.
The fully programmable ePDM 70-150 is supported by Würth’s WEcontrol Designer programming environment. Features include a J1939 library and online debugging functionality.
