Develon supplies electric excavators to county government in Ireland

Develon (formerly Doosan Construction Equipment) has delivered two electric excavators to Fingal County Council in Ireland. The two Develon DX20ZE-7 Electric two-tonne mini-excavators were delivered by EMS Machinery, Develon’s main dealer for the Irish Republic.

Fingal County, north of Dublin City, is home to several key elements of national and regional infrastructure, including Dublin Airport.

The DX20ZE-7 mini excavator is Develon’s first mass-produced electric excavator. It combines low noise and zero emissions with the features and performance enhancements found in the company’s next-generation DX-7 Series of mini excavators.

“The DX20ZE-7 is designed to meet a growing demand for electric machines,” says Seamus Flynn, Sales Director at EMS Machinery. “As compact equipment, such as mini-excavators, has a higher tendency to work in cities and residential areas, where it has proximity to other workers, it has a great advantage over the diesel counterpart due to less noise and no emissions.”

The DX20ZE-7 mini-excavator is powered by an in-house-developed 20.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and an electric motor rated at 13.7 kW (18.4 hp). All electrical components are optimized for work in harsh environments. A quick-charger system can restore 80% of the battery power after an hour and 20 minutes of charging, while the onboard charger restores the maximum charge after eight hours of charging.

The DX20ZE-7 has an operating weight of 1,941 kg; maximum digging depth of 2,350 mm; maximum digging reach (ground) of 3,875 mm; and maximum loading height of 2,625 mm.

Retractable tracks allow the new excavator to pass through narrow passages, making it suitable for working in confined spaces or indoor applications such as demolition and construction. Once the excavator reaches the work area, the operator can expand the tracks for better stability and lifting capacity.

The DX20ZE-7 comes with a standard telematics package that enables operators and dealers to remotely monitor their machine’s health, location and productivity. Telematics can help owners deter equipment theft, track when maintenance is due, and monitor oil pressure, operating temperature and more.

“This milestone signals a significant step forward in the Irish construction sector’s journey towards sustainability,” said Seamus Flynn. “EMS Machinery and Develon are committed to supporting stakeholders such as Fingal County Council in building a greener, more efficient future.”
