GM opens access to 17,000 Tesla Supercharger stations

GM drivers in the US can now use GM vehicle brand apps to purchase a GM-approved North American Charging Standard (NACS) DC adapter, giving them access to more than 17,800 Tesla Superchargers. The adapters will be made available in Canada later in the year.

Drivers will also be able to use the app to locate available Superchargers, check station status, initiate a charge, and pay for charging sessions. GM plans to use multiple suppliers to produce approved NACS DC adapters.

The addition of the Tesla Supercharger Network gives GM customers access to more than 231,800 public Level 2 and DC fast chargers throughout the US and Canada. The company expects the number to grow as it continues to deploy infrastructure in communities and heavily traveled corridors through its various charging collaborations.

“GM’s ongoing efforts to help accelerate the expansion of public charging infrastructure is an integral part of our commitment to an all-electric future,” said Wade Sheffer, Vice President of GM Energy. “Enabling access to even more publicly available fast chargers represents another way GM is focused on making the transition to electric more seamless.”
