Siemens unveils power distribution switchboard for EV fast chargers

Electronics giant Siemens has launched its RapidSBx switchboard, designed to address the need for power distribution to feed commercial switchboards for rapid EV charging station deployment.

The UL891 switchboard offers a streamlined design for charging stations and various commercial electrical infrastructure anywhere an outdoor switchboard is needed to comply with green initiatives. This includes urban settings such as airports, shopping malls and grocery stores as well as remote locations.

The RapidSBx provides flexibility, durability, and easy installation. The made-to-stock product offers customizable 3 VA branch breaker options and a rugged NEMA 3R outdoor enclosure, providing adaptability to different installation scenarios and environmental conditions. The switchboard is available through distributors and channel partners in the US.

Safety measures incorporated into the switchboard design include arc mitigation compliance, seismic rating and tamper resistance. The RapidSBx is compatible with the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program and certified by the Electric Utility Service Equipment Requirements Committee (EUSERC).
